Black Rhino is dual derrick, same as Athena......I,m not fully familiar with the operations as I,m involved with the build process only. Black Rhino built at Hyundai Heavy industries in Ulsan South Korea. Athena at Samsung Heavy Industries Geoje south Korea. Both run NOV drilling packages but they do vary in capacity and design.
My experience......Samsung actually build a superior ship.....the standard is very noticeable having worked both shipyards. Shipyards complete the hull and the drilling package supplier (NOV/ Aker etc ) supply and commission the drilling systems etc
Getting a bit off topic here and there are pros and cons for different designs but IMO Ocean Rig Athena was an excellent choice by COP and the JV......newish rig with experienced crew and working with the crew on Athena during commissioning....they were very professional .
