WPL have a keen interest in the outcome but they have no involvement with FAR. The FAR dispute is with COP regarding COP compliance with JOA terms.
The worst that can happen to WPL is for this to drag on and on. If FAR win WPL get to redeploy $430M USD for their other acquisitions or development. If FAR don't PE then FAR still have 15% and WPL as their new partner keen to develop the field and exploit it quickly.
WPL will be pushing for a rapid resolution. COP have lots of in-house lawyers, are from the most litigious nation on earth and have a HQ in a US state known for its people to play legal hardball for no other reason than pure principle or ego. Who knows what their game is. COP are the real unknown IMO. Why would they care where their money comes from - the sooner the better?!
