Lets talk pure Science.
Are the battery chargers creating harmonic's, flicker? Their are regulations that govern this!
The draw on the grid will be determined by the size of the wires so most charging sockets will be at the most 15A. A conventional cook top or oven would draw more than this. A conventional 2.5kW reverse cycle air conditioner would take more load than a rechargable car battery.
Smart meters charge us at peak, shoulder or off peak so most sensible people will charge their cars at Off peak times when the cost of electricity is much less!
The biggest threat the electricity network has,is most roof top solar panels are generating voltage higher than the system volts. So when there are two many roof top solar panels, the voltage rises and at night the voltage drop so there now are larger voltage rises and drops which are outside the regulations. Lets discuss this one!
