Why would it? All miners do farm outs it is a fact of life. It is a trade off between given up some upside (laying off some risk) and preserving cash to do many other things. Prudent management I would say.
As you said this company has good management with a credible track record. I believe they would have done a deal which in their opinion benefits STX shareholders.
