    You are amazing Head.
You know so little about dairy farming but based on your interaction with one laid back dairy farmer it must apply to all.
2 and half hours of milking is followed by washing down the yards and cleaning up. Then calves have to be fed and any sick ones treated. Any milkers that are on heat have to be put aside and AI used to get them in calf.
Meanwhile electric fences have to be shifted for the next feed run. Irrigators have to be shifted and run.
Paddocks need to be slashed, fertilized and sown down all before 3 o'clock when the afternoon muster of cows back for another milking.
Cull cows going to the abbs need to be loaded. Machinery needs to be repaired.
Most farmers are now milking 2 to 300 head in a vain attempt to stay in front. How much feed do you need ahead of you for these animals. How much do they consume each day while in the bails being milked. Where are you getting these rations from. If you are mixing your own it takes hours with a mix-all.
    You're looking for a job aren't you?
Sounds like an ideal one. Plenty of time for sleep and the money rains down from the heavens.
PS Having worked on a dairy farm I can certainly tell you that the cows do not muster themselves. In fact some of them are downright hornery about it. Especially at 4.30 am on a cold frosty morning.
The bloke you know sounds more like an employee paid to milk only rather than a real farmer.
