I am an engineering consultant on a 22km x 1m diameter water pipieline laid at depths of typically 2-3m through a very sensitive, beautiful rural valley.
A lot of effort goes into environmental controls, backfilling, re-topsoiling, grading and revegetation.
Within 6 months you will barely notice the route and within 12 months you wont.
Gas pipelines are a whole lot smaller in diameter than the one I am working on.
With the right community consultation this should be easily addressed imo.
