Santos are not interested in small operations any more, the prospects looked interesting way back when but several years later, the GFC and other developments have made it less interesting for them to continue - so it should be no surprise that they have begged out of some aspects of the CIG JV.

CIG have the permits, rig and opportunity to to drill some wells and make a living - although I believe it is doubtful they will ever have a gusher, but steady as she goes is good too - especially if there is good money to be made. Of course, CIG can continue to search for O&G and seeks out JV partners, as there is always the chance of a major success...
