    Baron, I agree totally, You are so right the lower of cost (the value of the FAS shares) or realisable value (the present value at time of purchase of the GWR shares).

    Even you Baron will have a hard time explaining how the number of FAS shares traded had a present value of 50,000,000 at the time of purchase. The FAS share price at the time of purchase was much less than 1/7 of the GWR share price throughout that aborted takeover period.

    Precisely the point I made.
