Medical & pharmaceutical research is also now littered with results published by those with a finanicial interest in the outcome.
A common trick if you get a negative result, is to do "Sub-group Analysis" until you do find something that looks statistically significant - even if it's only co-incidence.
Always be wary of all non-independent research... :)
