Coles Shares Reach Record High Amid Bid Speculation
MELBOURNE -(Dow Jones)- Shares in Australia's second-largest retailer Coles Myer Ltd. (CML.AU) reached a record high A$12.34 in early Thursday afternoon trade amid market speculation it could be the subject of a A$15 billion takeover bid from a private equity group.
A spokesman for Coles declined to comment on the talk.
"As a policy we would never comment on rumor or speculation," the spokesman said.
