Hi Pick
Mr Rudd may very well want to fast track renewables ... presumably wind, solar and hotrocks.
However for now and the foreseeable future, imo, these will never be cheap, scalable, baseload contributors ... and you cant fly planes, drive trucks, or cars for widely useful distances, lubricate motors, fertilise farms and manufacture pharmaceuticals with those renewables either.
If Mr Rudd could widen his view to get balance between incentives for "gas now" which offers immediate carbon emmissions and efficiency improvements (ie CSG and UCG) and "renewables" research we'd be ... well ... cooking with gas.
Imo, this is the only way the govt should be heading ... no other single action is practical.
Cheers
Dex
