Correct, which is why I didn't say that. Trump's actions had the effect of galvanising the Chinese in their actions. Trump certainly disrupted a ROW effort to combat Chinese aggression. He attacked China, but in the same way as a bully targets a smaller kid - giving him a self-perceived level of satisfaction without any thought to later consequences. Not saying that some of his actions were not grounded in common sense, for example;
1. Targetting China WRT COVID-19. The PRC will have to address their actions eventually, no matter how much they try to dodge the issue.
2. Bringing attention on to RE's and their valuable place in the economic food chain. Was this actually Trump, or just industry inertia - dunno, but RE's have certainly got the world's attention.

Not strictly on-topic, but Trump was a disaster for the US. It is going to take some time to erase his stain from the national fabric.
