I do agree with you re: quality of analysis. I'm only a "retail" investor with a meagre several years experience but one of the things I've picked up since then was that the vast majority of tipsheets and analyst reports can be flawed in a major way. Usually to the extent the report is rubbish. but discernible only if you're a veteran in the field with extensive industry knowledge. For the mum and dad it looks like a well written, professional piece. (And who could blame them, the broking houses make more money by writing rubbish but positive reports rather than accruate but negative reports - and that's the whole reason for their existence, to make money)

So thanks for the input, for small time investors like me with little knowledge in the field it hastens the learning process.
