Just look at the performance of the fat fund, asx code FAT, they have consistently underperformed the general market over the last 3 or 4 years. Previous asx code was FATS when it was a stapled security, even then they struggled to make any gains in a strong bull market. Much better to thoroughly DYOR and avoid any companies with significant amounts of debt.
