Fat Prophets are one of the better tip sheets, but they do not always get it right. For example, I think that at one time they also recommended Westonia, which has proved to be a dud.
I made a decision to bail out of VRE at 40 cents (up from 18 cents), despite FP saying I should stay in. I could have been wrong, and I may still prove to be wrong. My judgement was coloured by my experiences with two other gold miners (BDG, and LVR/PSV), and by the additional VRE capital raising that came out of the blue. I felt that for the number of shares on issue VRE needed to find a lot more gold, and that the amount of Ni attributed was too small to add significant value in the absence of a major upgrade in that resource. Hence any profit they may earn would need to be ploughed back into exploration for quite a few years.
Another tip sheet that I find has made very sound recommendations is Stockanalysis, but its a one man operation from WA. Its excellent in relation to oilers, but also has picked some highly prospective miners (eg ALB, MBN. which I do not hold).
In the end, despite any recommendations, each investor has to take full responsibility for their decisions.
There is also a lot of free (or semi-free) information in newspapers and magazines. For example a write up in Personal Investor magazine led me to buy MCR at under 80 cents, for which I am eternally grateful.
Good luck.
