in order for a state to be borne it must be able to defend its borders. this means of course it must possess its own police and military.

for decades Israel has controlled Palestine. the IDF have arrested people and had their home bulldozed so the family had to move away. they keep people in prison pending charges for any time up to years. they've ensured Palestine cannot control their own borders.

for the UN to vote to recognise the official State of Palestine they would have to be a complete withdrawal of IDF and all Israeli officials.

sure they can still invade or fire missiles (chucking rocks and insults) but it would be recognised as War and UN sanctions etc could kick in. surely even the US couldn't tolerate Israel making war?

besides its looking like Netanyahu is under increasing pressure to either resign or call new elections. once he's gone Israel will make peace.
