Many of the things people think are Muslim are actually from the pre Islam period.

Take veils for example, they were used prior to Islam even exisiting. Greek and Roman travellers record them. Slave women did not wear veils and free women did.

Stoning as well predates Islam. It's well documented.

Few places do stoning. Afghanistan yes but that tradition isn't from Islam originally.
