it's not an easy option for a retail investor, and certainly proper short selling is not available through the regular retail brokers. There ha e some in the past (pre 2008) provided the ability under a margin type facility, however in not sure if any of them exist nowadays?
To short you need some sort of access to the securities lending market, and that's generally an institutional only play-ground. Most insto brokers actually sell first then borrow the stock to cover settlement later - the advantage of being a trading and clearing / settlement member of disallowed.
And if anyone suggests using CFDs - run a mile - that's a punters option, and ASIC likely to ban them soon anyway.
