Lack of finishing trades in WA comes down to a couple of important things.
The Mining industry that is going gangbusters at the moment, paying exorbitant amounts.
The building companies going broke and not paying subbies.
What would you rather do get paid $4000 a week and miss some of your family life.
Or risk not getting $2000 a week and not be able to feed your family.
    I would take the former.
So we increase immigration to fill in some of the gaps, they see how much they can make in the mining industry, and we are back to square 1.
Guaranteeing payments to Subbies through insurance or such would be a step forward.
We should not rely on governments to continue to change nappies or blame them for Building companies going broke, the bigger you get and the more debt you take on increases your risk.
The small builders I know have no issue, they employ two or three chippies and subbie the rest of the work out, they don't go broke.
