You and me both timbat , my situation was very similar
It took more than all my willpower not to bail at the height of the GFC and instead add more of the blue chips in my portfolio (thanks to W Buffett, buy when there's blood in the street even if it's your own). Blue chips are slow burn, boring but have their moments, worked out for me
GFC was a real SH!T YOUR PANTS moment in time that's for sure, don't think I've ever been that freaked out haha
Has taught me market patience though
