Really dont need DST for slab, laser levels are quite accurate enough but concreters are lazy and the tolerance is around 5mm. With a bit more effort they can get it to 2mm. More accurate set up with boxing is also required. I think $300 to get a perfect slab is cheap. So often I have seen bottom course of bricks hanging on by half a brick or timber frames inside and outside of slab or just out of square to get within. Quite poor I think some of the builds I have seen.
