im guessing over the years they have been exploring all sorts of options including licencing the tech to try and get this to next stage.
So just because it hasnt happened doesnt mean it hasnt been considered.
Between bankers, accountants , brokers and lawyers etc there would be a huge amount of experience that would have been tapped into.
