We built a huge Victorian.
We went deeper than 1200 deep with our footings because of clay.
Used very old creams then rendered.
2 Expansion joints on one massive wall
Allowed for frame shrinkage for window installation.
We also put drainage everywhere and ensured no water could pool near the house.
20 plus years on, some minor crazing in a couple of spots and a couple of hair line cracks near a couple of under floor vents.
The best brick work in the world won’t last if the footings are inadequate for the sub ground and structure.
