Hi, well waste avoidance is a big thing in germany. Every household has 4 different garabage bins. Organic, paper, recycable (plastic, foils, metals etc.) and rest (all other things). The waste and recycle system in Germany is not as good as it might look like. We still have landfills and they will still exist many years. But it is true, we are burning and recycle most of the waste (i think 98% of all old paper based waste is recycled).

I just disposed some waste (concrete, old tiles and carpets) from my house renovation. I paid 250€ (as a private person, company fares are probably cheaper) per ton for the disposal. So waste is really expensive and every builder would be happy to avoid as much as possible.
