I think you would be hard pressed to find any building or product where the engineers are 100% happy with every aspect of the design. Engineers (myself included) hate any kind of compromise.
Also consider the likelihood that some of these "engineers" may not even be engineers, may have a political agenda or an axe to grind.
The timing is also very suspicious and does suggest other dark forces in the background from the financial world.
