It's obvious where the government's loyalties/priorities lie. Cougar had raised the CSG industry's recent BTEX readings with the Qld Govt/DERM/Katie/Dot whilst they had been assessing Cougar's operations, however they were blatantly and shamelessly ignored by the powers that be:

"You may have seen recent reports of readings of BTEX chemicals at two coal seam gas operations in Queensland. According to published reports and releases by both companies, there have been detections of benzene in excess of the levels briefly found at our Kingaroy operations.

"A number of our shareholders have queried these reports with us and asked us to put such reports into context with the Kingaroy readings and shutdown.

"We have raised such shareholders queries with the appropriate Queensland Government department and expect to be able to make a statement in relation to our position as soon as possible."
