    Definition of 'expected': regarded as likely; anticipated.

    Not "guaranteed", "pretty promised", or "a failure if it doesn't happen by then".

    Just "regarded as likely; anticipated".

    So... if your countdown happens to get to zero with no announcement, it proves absolutely nothing.
