we vote for them Welks.... the Parties select their candidates and we trot along like lambs to the slaughter to vote for our fave party without consideration of the standard of person the party selects. Usually they are party social climbers, non-entities like you and me who want the POWER of being an MP.
I believe some MPs are genuinely wanting to build a better Australia. but imo many party climbers are there for a) the money, b) the Glory, c) the Party owes them a secure living for all their efforts in promoting the Party, and d) the desire to be seen as important and able to do things that no ordinary person could... eg. getting your speeding ticket binned.
Maguire wanted his name on the gun club, to be immortalised, and to make a lot of $$$s from the developer and council for arranging for Berejiklian to "throw Money" at Wagga Wagga.
imo Ms B was wrangled by this scammer. and this might explain why ICAC let her off being referred to the police/DPP.
