Isn't this part a big surprise:

I've sent letters to ASIC myself on two occasions for what I saw to be serious breaches of the law regarding listed companies. Their response was pretty much, yes we can see your point but we don't really think we'll investigate as there might not be anything wrong really.
Then they spend millions chasing after people like Andrew Forrest when they could have been investigating billions of dollars worth of bank fraud involving taxpayer investments.
