For reserve bankers etc, it is: "it's the politics, stupid".
Why didn't the Feds already bring on QE 3?
Why did they deliver the Twist instead?
Politics - they are behoven to politicians, and the political ground is changing. The Repubs are on the up, and it's clear that they don't like what the Feds Ressie has been up to.
So scenario: Republicans in, and guess what - Bernanke ain't got a job. So Benny placates the Repubs.
