This time last year QE3 was kicked into gear on the back of a 11-1 vote. Just three days ago a 9-1 vote supported its continuation. For a taper to be put in place by the end of the year there's going to need to be a very dramatic and sudden change in events given that a lot of water has flown under the bridge over the past 12 months and this policy and its magnitude still remains almost unanimously supported by the fed.

The next month will be very interesting and could spark a catalyst towards a definitive decision on tapering for at least the year ahead. There's Obamacare and a debt ceiling to deal with. Political tantrums are at a fever pitch and everyone wants to be an economic hero in the USA right now, so watch that space.
