The reality is, people in ASIA, Middle Eastern, Eastern Europe countries still love to hold on to US dollars over Gold. Easy to hold and easy to carry:).
You can buy almost anything, anywhere using the US dollar. I cannot say the same for other major currencies.
The Chinese & Indians love to buy Gold, simply because they don't like to hold Ruppes or Yuans atm.
