"The reality is, people in ASIA, Middle Eastern, Eastern Europe countries still love to hold on to US dollars over Gold. Easy to hold and easy to carry:)."
Arrh, you are kidding right?
Asia - one big generalisation.
Ask most asians would they prefer a handful of gold or a handful of yankee dollars.
Middle East - ditto, a general statement.
Gold has been traded and valued in the ME for centuries - what the hell do you think weighed down the Shar's plane when he escaped ?
Dollars or gold?
When I last did a currency back street deal in ex soviet states - they wanted dollars - yes, but they were very specific dollars.
Would they do a deal for gold?
Would they bloody what ---------------- yes sir.
Try doing a deal in Vietnam for gold or yankee dollars.
Na, you have to be kidding.
You are wrong on easier to carry as well ----------- you can wear gold ---------- you can't wear dollars.
Why do you think people carried jewellery out of Germany in WW2 -------------- RSA recently.
How much RSA currency do you see here in Aust.?
How many US dollars do you see here held by ex. RSA?
How much jewellery do you see here held by ex. RSA - roughly made out of old Ponds? ---------------- heaps.
Why?
History tells us a lot.
