Pinto & Frank,
I'd spent 3 months last year travelled around the world, and been to some very remote places. Carried some mixed major currencies, and travel cheques for emergency situations...
I guess what.. Any remote places (Africa, Middle Eastern, Central Asia, SE Asia) I went accepted US dollars over Euro, Yen, travel cheques, Visa or Australian dollars.
Some advanced countries like Japan, Korea, etc. charged me only 1% for for US exchange cost. They however, charged up to 10% for other currencies & travel cheques. I have no trouble with Visa or Master cards in those advanced countries & Europe thought, which offer a better exchange rates.
One time we shorted of cash and my partner tried to sell her 24k gold bangle in India's pawn shop.. Guess what, they offered us 1/3 of the original cost, citing impurity.. Lol.. The same thing they did when we tried in China. So much for Asian loving gold ey .. Lol..
Travel the world, then you know what I meant... Cheers.
