I think the markets would be shocked if the Fed raised interest rates by 0.5%. 0.25% is anticipated and accepted. One thing the Fed, in its own Fedspeak way, has been determined to do is avoid surprising the financial markets. I doubt the Fed wants to send stockmarkets spiralling downwards 10 days before Christmas.
