    I did not read it that way at all ... Turnbull was evasive and did not really come across as convincing. He ranted about tax cuts but refused to countenance the morality of the tax on alco-pop drinks. He was more concerned about the effects of such a tax cut on big business.

    One could go on but the bottom line is that Turnbull came across as a typical liberal (to be expected) who couldn't really give a stuff about working families.

    He certainly did not massacre O'Brien or the integrity of the Swan budget - quite the contrary, really.

    I guess, like beauty, the budget is in the political eye of the beholder.

    It was economically responsible and socially equitable ... at, least that's how I saw it.
