NO, he hasn't got it wrong. I think he means other Polynesians from the huge area of the South Pacific. Even the Maoris resent the level of immigration from the Cook Islands. ABC had a programme on successful immigration from Vanuatu to nz where people get working visa for 6 (?) months to work & return for rest of year, investing that money in Vanuatu economy where it was needed. Of course,Vanuatans are melanesians rather than polynesians, but are near neighbours, like Fiji,nonetheless. Auckland has a serious drink & drug problem after dark like many parts of Oz, which would be exacerbated by large pools of unemployed, unskilled migrants.
