Ex media , Quote , West Coast - Tasman MP Maureen Pugh was allegedly assaulted at a “tense” Golden Bay protest on Tuesday. Pugh was in Tākaka meeting with members of the Golden Bay Community Board, who, among other subjects, wished to discuss concerns around a fast-track gold mine proposal planned for Sam’s Creek. In April, Australian mining company Siren Gold submitted applications for two mining operations to be considered under the coalition Government’s Fast-track Approvals Bill . Siren Gold was one of the companies interested in the Fast-track Approvals Bill that sent a “letter of invitation” by Infrastructure Minister, Pugh told Stuff yesterday .
