Before electronic banking and mailing, I would receive a cheque in the mail, then have to drive down to the bank and fill out a form and wait in line . Vehicle costs and my time $ 85 minimum ........ plus interest lost per day for mailing time and getting to the bank .
Multiply by 2 for twice yearly dividends, and yearly total was $ 170, and counting. That's what paper dividends cost !!! For the company it was tens of thousands of dollars.
With electronic transfer, I get my dividend same day, I have to look up Computershare ( e.g.) and print off two copies of the dividend statement.
1c worth of paper, 2c worth of ink, and about 5 minutes.
It's faster, cheaper, saves trees , saves car pollution, and most importantly, saves time both for the company and for me.
The process saves the company tens of thousands of dollars twice a year, and costs me about 5c. Your " digital expenses" wouldn't amount to 10c, so that's a complete furphy.
