Yes when you're going through a time like you would have been, chasing someone for compensation, is the furthest from you mind.

My mothers twin sister, known to everyone as Aunty as she was like that to all, once had an attack of some kind and was rushed to hospital.
For whatever the reason, they placed her on blood thinners (rat sack) and within 24-48 hrs she was gone, bleed to death internally, before the penny dropped for the hospital stuff?
OH the doctors go, she didn't tell us that she had a stomach ulcer.
Hmmm, like she would have known.

For some years she was a cottage mother to kids at Fairbridge Farm, the kids all liked her very much, hence the name that stuck, Aunty .....
She ended up down there escaping from a nasty husband, that kept beating up the youngest of hers and his 3 boys, as he hated him.
For a short period at first, she moved into our Black Shack with us 8 kids and parents obviously, so it was certainly an overfilled house lol.
The other 2 boys were gathered up when the husband wasn't around.

In later years, she moved into a big rented house in Viv Park and a lot of the mature ex Fairbridge kids followed her and boarded with her for many years.
She then was working for SGIO.

But, even though there was no money so to speak, among the above times, there were good times, as on W/Ends, many of the Fairbridge kids etc would head to the Black Shack.
As you can now imagine, each ones exaggerated account of memories of the days, becomes quite a laugh when there is an occasional gathering.
Especially when you add the likes of, we had just about every animal you can think of as pets, Kangaroo, Emu, Fox, Sheep, Goat, you name it lol.
OH and 14 cats and 4 dogs (no exaggeration there).
Chooks, heaps of, just running wild so to speak.
