    You should learn to play what pleases her, too!

    But each to their own - I have learnt a lot about music, by listening to all around me, my friends' suggestions etc. Had to 'do' all the folksy stuff for a while, as i was entertainment officer in an ethnic club, and 'they' wanted their old-time music, which isn't so different to your likes.
    Employed some bands, who always played too loudly, so I walked around with a sound level meter in hand - and the band knew, they were too loud - used to put the level into their contract, from memory it was about up to 88 decibels ? Can't remember now.
    Seeing your place is so big and loud, you should consider your wife's taste as well? You can always play your favourites quietly, too!??
    Just IMO -
    but: music is food for the soul.
