    Back in my midteens I trained for just over a year in that great sport of Surf Boating for SLS club.

    You know the one, budgie smugglers up the crack to stop the chafing with 3 others “not so bright” types and the smart bloke up the back steering, shouting orders and always evaluating when to jump ship and leave the the muscle to their fate?

    I never completed the 7-8 k warm up run to the mole and back, lifted and did as many reps as the other blokes did but never saw my 6pack.
    The others looked like your pic in about 3 weeks.
    Even when I was working deck on the crayboats, lifting massive amounts of weights, working 7 day weeks (longest stint without a day off was 121 in a row), normally for 4-8 weeks straight before a day off then back at it, I only ever looked like I was trying to hold 8 loose cans but never a six pack

    Genetics, Dam You!!!!

    Then again, I’m only a couple of kilo heavier now than when I was 25 and being a bloke I just keep on getting more handsome and distinguished with age
