We recently got rid of our landline as we have had periods of up to 6 weeks without internet or phone. I understand we don't live in a capital city but the Sunshine Coast is only 15-20 min drive away... Came to a head when son from overseas was home, well I thought it was for a holiday, but he worked from 7am to midnight some nights because his work involves multi countries and time zones. Anyway he spat the dummy with our slow downloads, bought an antenna for the roof, triangulated wireless towers and for the cost of the antenna and new modem (under the house) we have a spiffy fantastic wireless broadband for not much money. We can now stream movies from Netflix, my live share trading platform actually is live and touch wood, all this will continue. We have bitched and whinged to Telstra. iiNet, my local member and numerous call centre staff for years and got absolutely nowhere.
