Old Lisbon has a lot of history and charm. Douro River cruises are from Porto, Portugal to Vega de Terron, Spain would be an interesting experiance
To the south of Portugal is Algave, some great little old town but also very much tourist destination.
If you are considering Morocco, Madeira Island may be an option, every one I have spoken to that has been there has loved it. Have not been but might get there next year
