I’ve just spent a morning helping my son clean up the garden at his rental property. At the back entrance he has planted out a community garden which I weeded and raided. It’s magnificent- silverbeet, more tomatoes than you can imagine, herbs and zucchini. I also dug up a few salsify which is worth a heap in fancy restaurants. So I have basically just taken home a weeks worth of fresh organic food. Love it.
this week I had a young Vietnamese woman join my household. I have had students live with me since 1993 apart from the period where my ex convinced me they were an unwelcome addition to life. Back in my life now I get heaps out of welcoming them to australia and helping them learn English.
life is a rich tapestry of people and it helps to reneged that no matter where we come from our core needs are the same. This group is a beautiful reminder of that.
