I have a few Ukrainian friends. One of my close friends is married to one. Mama still doesn’t speak much English. Her brother in law just married a woman from the Ukraine and boy does he look happy. I love that Australia has so many different cultures. Australia Day we lounged around at her place. An Aussie. A kiwi. A few Ukrainians. An Italian and an english woman.

tonight I had dinner with a Vietnamese, a Canadian and a Japanese. Xmas day was kiwis. Australian, Russian, Taiwanese, Thai and Chinese.

your mum must have had it tough. I can imagine the work camps would have been no picnic. I wonder how that affected the rest of her life.
