Bull rays (large sting rays) were horrible things, not only would the flap and smash the prawns, they were covered in this thick slime and as a survivale thing they would give birth to any babies they where carrying regardless of how old the babies were. They where to big to slide down the shit chute so we would pass a rope in one ear and out the other so we could winch it off the sorting tray and over the side. Yuck
Sea snakes, some times heaps of them and hanging out the bottom of the cod end. The draw stings of the codend where yellow so some times you mistakes a snake for a draw sting.
Sharks and big ones but the dangerous ones where sword sharks
Got one of these once, quite rare Leather back turtle and is the largest turtle species. We had no idea so contacted fisheries who after describing told us what it was and ask we take some photos before releasing
