Bluespotted ribbontail ray
Meet the bluespotted ribbontail ray, a stingray found in warm coastal waters throughout the Indian Ocean and South Pacific. It has large protruding eyes and can be identified by the bright blue spots covering its yellowish body, which act as a warning to predators. This is a species that prefers to be left alone, but it has two venomous spines at the back tip of its tail and will use its sting to defend itself. So watch you don’t step on it if you come across this spotty stingray.
