@Margaret63 Lawrence of Arabia became a 'hero' in Western eyes, even though in the film and in real life he thought he had made a hash of things in Saudi Arabia.
He wasn't as tall as Peter O'Toole (who played him in the film) and he never married - he is supposed to have been gay - but the film has made him a larger than life character.
He died as the result of a motorcycle accident in his early 40s in Britain. He is not to be confused with the writer D.A. Lawrence, who wrote 'Lady Chatterly's lover' and 'Sons and Lovers' and similar. X Taurisk
