Hi @noddan - thanks for posting the cookbook - makes interesting reading - sound instructions - recipes are pretty good, some of which I do in the European ('Continental' to the Brits) way, with less flour, more fresh herbs, thin bacon slices etc. I am not too keen on mutton and lamb - there seems to be no pork - I love the insistence on cleanliness and it must be remembered that even washing dishes was then a job in a trough - and by hand - if lucky then they had a wooden rack into which dishes could be stacked and immersed in hot water - then lifted, rinsed and put out to dry. . . . . and reconstituted peas!!! -
P.S. I am a cookbook tragic - own at least 20 - haven't counted them lately.
